NWHP is moving!

Dear Friend,

As you might know, the National Women’s History Project will be moving to our new office on July 1, 2007. We made this decision a year ago, yet as the timeline got shorter, I began to experience a little anxiety. My anxiety was replaced with a feeling of pride and wonder when I began sorting through the NWHP Archives and had the joyful opportunity to revisit our 27 years of Writing Women Back into History.

When I started sorting through our archives, I was amazed by the fun-filled memories that accompanied the discovery of dozens of curriculum resources. These materials were among the first developed and distributed to introduce the rationale and motivation to encourage teachers to incorporate the study of women’s accomplishments into their curriculum.

My next find, the black vinyl Write Women Back into History briefs (as we called them), had been produced for workplace managers who were just beginning to plan women’s history programs.

When I came upon the boxes of (adult and children’s) T-shirts, sweatshirts, bookmarks, buttons, magnets, and even Teddy Bears used in a variety of special campaigns that included promoting Science is Women’s Work, the 85th Anniversary of Women Winning the Vote, and Living the Legacy: the 150th Anniversary of the Women’s Rights Movement, I was reminded of the hard work, creativity, and inventiveness of those who have been part of the National Women’s History Project team. These memories made getting ready to move more fun and affirming than I could have imagined.

I would like to thank all of those who helped make all our campaigns to honor, recognize, and celebrate women’s historic achievements so successful. And special thanks to all who have chosen to participate in our move by ordering some of our unique women’s history memorabilia.

Thank you,

Molly
