Letters we received

Dear Molly,
Want you to know that I played the same restrictive
basketball in high school.  In grammar school because we were held back
a semester to enter hi in the fall instead of Dec., we had a shared
P.E. period with a male teacher who had never heard of such things so we
go to play both B’s with the boys. It was a brief experience, but at
home,  we played everything on a empty lot. Imagine my surprise when we
ran into that half court business in hi school. Great statement.     Carol N.

Looking forward to receiving your October – and beyond – Executive Director Letter,
Molly.
Who am I?  I am Paul M. and I enjoy my seventieth year on Mother Earth and do ‘hourly shows’ with residents in Assisted Living facilities on the eastern seaboard of Massachusetts . . . more than 30 communities I visit each month . . . as well as several Care & Rehabilitation Centers . . . Including residents with Alzheimer Disease (or other dementia issues), for my some one thousand friends each month I share my programs which I entitled, “ENTERTAINMENT THAT ENGAGES THE MIND & ENLIVENS THE SPIRIT” .
When I received your September letter . . . ‘wow’ . . . the stand out words include “the limitations of the past do not define the possibilities of the future” . . . “appreciating the work of the women who have moved history forward” . . . your reminiscing of the “half-court basketball”: I am one of those who never heard of that before and hearing it, I am ashamed of my male ancestors who set those rules / limitations . . .
Your reminiscing brought several participants to tears, sharing their play in “half-court basketball” . . . I am so grateful to you for including me on your list.  Please check to see that I am on the monthly list of recipients. I guarantee myself and you – your writings will be read to men and women whom I visit . . . and I will happily write to let you know their responses. My shows are usually in ‘three segments’ . . . at least one is on my favorite topic, WOMEN!!! Currently I am offering PLACES WHERE WOMEN MADE HISTORY – resources from The National Park Service and the National Register of Historic Places in New York and Massachusetts
THANK YOU & your staff, Molly, for all your work in waking up us men !
- Paul

Molly,
I was wondering if I could use your “Dear Friends” note below in our EEO newsletter?  I believe I have used one of your articles in the past, giving credit to you while putting in a plug for the National Women’s History Project.

Please include me on your mailing list.  As always, I continue to be inspired by Molly and NWHP!!  My 15-year-old daughter, an athlete and scientist, and I thank you.

Please sign me up for the e-newsletter.  I am the (only) Social Studies teacher in the Blind Department at the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind (we are a small department) and I am starting on my 3rd year as a teacher.  The other day one of my female students, whose previous History teacher was a man, said “Mrs. B. before you came here I didn’t even know that there was such a thing as women’s history or black history”. It made me both proud and sad at the same time.  Your materials and information help my students “see” the past and the possibilities of the future. Thank you very much for all  you do.
Laura B..
