Junior League of Baltimore: 5 Reasons Why You Should Join

The Junior League of Baltimore is an organization that has devoted countless volunteer hours into making Baltimore a better place. It’s an organization of determined women who are committed into developing women’s potential, improving communities through volunteerism and who inspire women to be leaders.

Their purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The Junior League of Baltimore, Inc. reaches out to women of all races, religions, and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism.  Besides volunteering, there are also 5 other reasons to join this exemplary organization.

1.)  You can be a part of Baltimore’s rich culture. The Junior League has a rich history in Baltimore from the Flower Mart, Maryland School for the Blind, they helped  Founded the Hampden Family Center, and they began the docent program at the National Aquarium.

2.)  You can do your part to fight Childhood Obesity.  Every  year they hold a ” Big Kids in the Kitchen” event which hosts 200 at-risk children from Baltimore, at Port Discovery, and teaches them about healthy food and lifestyle choices. Currently, they are developing a “Kids in the Kitchen curriculum”  to roll out next fall to mirror this event. You can participate, educate and help fight childhood obesity through getting involved with this curriculum.

3.) Make new friends. If you are new into the area, and want to make more female friends; this is the organization for you to do that and ensure that they are life long comrads.  Women of all different walks–who are professional, educated and motivated– make up the cosmetic makeup of the organization.

4.) Learn how to be a leader.  This organization ( will be 100 years old  next year) has courses, on-site training and support provided for women who want to garner  career worthy skills.

5.) It’s alot of fun. Most importantly, the Junior League of Baltimore is a fun organization full of confident, warm women who embrace social issues and tackle it head on.
