Jewish American Heritage Month - May 2013

Networking Conference

On April 20, 2006, President George W. Bush proclaimed that May would be Jewish American Heritage Month. This achievement was spearheaded by the Jewish Museum of Florida and South Florida Jewish community leaders and the resolutions were introduced by Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida in the House and Senator Arlen Specter ofPennsylvania in the Senate. Both passed unanimously first in the House in December 2005 and then the Senate in February 2006.

The month of May was chosen due to the highly successful celebration in May 2004 of the 350th Anniversary of American Jewish History recognizing Jewish contributions to American culture.
