Dear Friends,
Happy National Women's History Month! To celebrate the 2011 theme, Our History is Our Strength, we plan to feature specific women and groups of women throughout the month. Just as the stories of women’s achievements are integral to the fabric of our nation’s history, the tenacity, courage, and creativity of our featured women provide us with a tremendous source of strength and inspiration. Later in the month, look for our stimulating Women's History Challenge Quiz.
To start National Women’s History Month, we suggest that you add your own personal stories to the fabric of women’s history by going to this website http://1000memories.com/women-in-history. You can include photos, narratives, and memories of your mothers, grandmothers, and heroines alongside many famous women from history. This special website allows for a collective celebration of women's history and aims to create a place where current and future generations of women can be inspired by the role of women in history. The idea is to create a single place where the women important in each of our lives are remembered side-by-side. When you click on any woman, you can see the richer details of her life in stories and photos.
We invite you to use the resources available on our website www.nwhp.org for your National Women’s History Month events and programs:
