We've Have Only Just Begun! Dear Friends, Although, National Women's History Month has ended, we want to let you know that "We have only just begun!" We plan to build on the excitement and sense of possibility generated by the hundreds of thousand of NWHM events celebrated around the country as well as on every military base throughout the world. During the month of March, I answered hundreds and hundreds of questions. Some of them were about specific women or resources, but overwhelmingly the questions were related to how students, parents, educators, individuals, sororities, and a variety of women's groups and organizations could get involved. Countless people asked, "What can I do to make sure that my children, my church group, my organization, my students, or my colleagues have the opportunity to learn about how Our HISTORY is Our Strength?" Other people asked "Are there others in my community or state working to promote women's history?" To answer these questions, we are expanding our website to meet the need for easier access to others interested in promoting women's history, as well as to recommend specific women's history websites. This web expansion will include a NWHP Network Section and a Women's History Websites Section. The NWHP Network Section will be designed like our Performer and Presenters Section in that there will be a National listing and a listing for each state. NWHP Network Members, who choose to do so, will be listed in the National section or listed in a specific state by name, city, three self-selected descriptors ( like primary grade teacher, girl scout leader, parent, community organizer, etc.) along with their email address. This limited information would allow people who might live in nearby communities or who have other needs in common to be able to directly communicate with each other. Becoming a NWHP Network Member is a great way to support the ongoing work of the National Women's History Project. In addition, NWHP Network Members receive a 5% discount on all purchases as well as significant discounts on our events such as Women's Historic Sites bus tours and women's history programs and events. If you have already joined the NWHP Network in 2010, or if you have been a 2011 donor, thank you! We will be sending you a special form so that you can be listed in the new NWHP Network Section section on our website. In the future, memberships will extend until April 30th of each year. If you have not joined the NWHP Network, please select one of the following choices to get involved and become part of our Network. If you want to simply make a donation, all 2011 Donors will be considered NWHP Network members.
